Efficient water supply system that could serve Ormoc City and all its barangays.

To provide all water consumer with potable water supply that conform the standards of the World Health Organization for drinking water.

Adequate supply of potable water and increase the city revenues thru water fees.

I. Brief Description of Office

LThe Ormoc Waterworks Office is a local government entity under the City Administrator of Ormoc City. The office operates and maintains Level III (metered connections) of the city. Other than metered connections, the office also develops Level II (communal water systems) for rural barangays that are outside the service area of Level III water systems and assist in the maintenance of the same.

The development and improvement of water system are in line with the thrust of the local government unit of Ormoc to provide water for all and the waterworks office is committed to this goal. In CY 2019, the annual budget was pegged at Php64, 700,000.00 that cover the operations and maintenance requirements of the office. The office was also given charge to about Php35,000,000.00 20% Development Fund intended to rehabilitate, improve, and expand the water system of the city both for Level III and Level II water service classifications.

II. OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE

The waterworks office is divided into five sections namely the Laboratory Section, Maintenance Section, Production Section, Metering Section, and the Planning, Construction and Development Section. These are run by highly dedicated and skilled employees of the city.

Laboratory Section

The program of this office is to provide safe and potable water to the consumers, and see to it that the microbiological, physical, and chemical quality of the water is in conformance to the requirements and criteria specified in the Philippine National Standard for Drinking Water.

To ensure the quality and monitor all Level III water source and distribute lines, and also assist Level II and Level I water source in terms of water disinfection, the office conducted a series of activities for the calendar year 2019.

Production Section

Metering Section

The functions of the metering sections include but not limited to accepting and installing new water meters, resolving illegal connections and leaking, reconnection of cut-off meters, changing of old meters, changing the name of registered member, transferring of meter to new location/ line temporary cut-off of connection, and “read and billing” of registered water connections. As of December 31, 2019, about 22,651 connections are read and billed out of 22,852 active consumers by the office. About 9,128,579 cu.m. of potable water was consumed for the calendar year 2019.

Planning, Construction and Development Section

The section continuously evaluates the needs of the system as a whole. It has submitted several proposals for implementation and submitted documents for bidding which are necessary to the water system. The highlighted accomplishments include those that are on-going and completed development projects.

This section also includes the primary task of supervising the Construction of Projects related to the Rehab/ Improvement of the existing Water System which includes the Construction of Reservoirs, Spring Boxes, Pipe Installation, and the drilling of Production Well.
